It's another hot day in California. The trailer temperature is set at -18 degrees but the refrigeration unit can "only" keep it around -5 degrees during the day when it's 100 degrees outside. Our trailers don't have a super-thick layer of insulation like ice cream trucks do. (Extra insulation adds weight, adds cost, and reduces trailer space.) The trailer does get down to -18 degrees at night though. Not sure why this freight, mostly frozen alfredo sauce, is supposed to be kept so cold. The standard temperature for frozen food is -10 degrees.
